How the calculation works

EU261 compensation is determined by the great-circle distance of the flight and the length of the disruption — not the price of your ticket. The amounts below apply per passenger and are in addition to any refund or rerouting.

Important caveats

For delays under 4 hours on flights over 3,500 km, the airline may pay 50% (€300 instead of €600).
Compensation is not due if the airline can prove an extraordinary circumstance (rare in practice).
For cancellations with 14+ days notice, compensation is generally not payable.
